PeTroCoke, Inc. delivers a safe, high BTU, pulverized coke product to our customers. The entire system is designed to be self-contained and environmentally friendly

Our company receives bulk petroleum coke directly from the refinery. This product is delivered, either by barge or truck, to the grinding facility.

The bulk petroleum coke is loaded into the raw coke feed hoppers. It is fed into a self-contained grinding system.

The coke is ground to a face powder consistency. During the grinding process, the coke is dried to increase its BTU value.

The finished pulverized product is pneumatically conveyed into a storage bin for loading into a specially configured pneumatic trailer. The petroleum coke is delivered to the customer's site.

The truck driver unloads the pneumatic trailer into the coke storage silo. This silo, which typically holds three to four days' supply of petroleum coke, has a metering feed system to supply coke to the lime kiln.

This feed system is designed specifically for the unique handling characteristics of pulverized petroleum coke. From the proprietary hopper design to the special airlock arrangement, all components are selected to provide a consistent and continuous flow to the kiln.

The control system allows the lime kiln operator to easily adjust the coke feed rate over a set turn down range. The controls are design with the flexibility to be tied into a distributive control system and to provide a digital indication of the feed rate.

A little about us...
PeTroCoke, Inc. began operations in 1985 and was incorporated in 1986 as Petro-coke Transportation Company, Inc. In 1992 the company changed its name to PeTroCoke, Inc.

Our genesis was an extension of a concept developed in the late 70's and early 80's. During the era of high oil prices, a system was developed for grinding, handling, and delivering pulverized coal.

The same high energy costs were prevalent in the paper industry. The coal handling technology was modified to supply petroleum coke as an alternative fuel for lime kilns.

Petroleum coke, unlike coal, is a very stable and safe pulverized fuel. The low volatiles and ash content make it an excellent choice for the lime kiln.

Our first plant was put into production in 1985. This grinding plant was established as a stand alone operation. It is solely dedicated to supplying a single mill.

The second grinding operation was started in 1987. This plant was designed with the capacity to supply numerous mills from this single site.

In the third quarter of 1997, the second generation coke feed system technology was commissioned. The system upgrades incorporate our twelve plus years of operating experience, a proprietary hopper design, flow rate indication and an updated control system.
